Terms and conditions

1. General
Welcome to Makaop. By using our website and purchasing our products, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before making a purchase.

2. Products
Makaop specializes in handcrafted jewelry made from sustainably sourced shells, 925 silver, and 18k gold vermeil and some products are gold-plated with thick layer of 18k gold. As a base material, we use silver or brass. The product material is always stated in the product description. Due to the natural variations in materials, each piece is unique. Shells, as a natural material, can sometimes have dents, an uneven surface, and other organic imperfections that add to their character and uniqueness.

3. Orders and Payments
All prices are listed in the currency of your choice with the exchange rate of the day of purchase. Payment must be completed before orders are processed. Final payment is deducted in CZK. We accept major credit cards.

4. Shipping and Delivery
For orders within Czech Republic and Slovakia, we use Zásilkovna (Paketa) for delivery. For all other international orders, we use the international service of the Czech Post Office. Once your order is shipped, you will receive a tracking number. Makaop is not responsible for delays due to customs or other unforeseen circumstances.

Please ensure you provide us with a safe and secure shipping address. If you provide us with an incorrect address, you are liable to pay an additional shipping fee to have your order reposted. Makaop is not liable for your parcel once we have provided you with a tracked shipping number.

5. Lost or Delayed Shipments
Most of the parcels are delivered between 3-14 days from the purchase depending on the final destination. If your package is lost or delayed, please notify us as soon as possible. We will file a claim with our local postal service. Makaop cannot provide a refund or replacement of your order until the post office completes its claim process, which may take up to three (3) months. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.

6. Returns and Refunds
Due to the nature of our handcrafted products, we do not accept returns for change of mind. If you receive a damaged or defective item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos and details of the issue. We will assess the case and offer a suitable resolution.

If the size of your jewelry does not fit, you have 7 working days from the date of receiving your order to request an exchange. We only exchange unworn and undamaged products in their original packaging. The customer is responsible for covering the shipping costs for the exchange.

Refunds or exchanges will only be processed if the item has been deemed faulty once inspected by our jeweler. All customers must provide their order number receipt to be eligible for these terms and conditions.

7. Warranty
Every product comes with a 6-month warranty from the date of purchase. Warranty claims can result in the item being repaired or replaced, but no monetary refunds will be issued.

Any item that is broken or faulty must be sent back to our returns address with prior notice via email or message. The item will be assessed by our jeweler to determine whether the issue was due to a manufacturing fault or accidental customer damage. If a manufacturing fault is confirmed, the item will be repaired or replaced. However, any accidental damage or breakage caused by the customer from the date of purchase is not covered by the warranty.

There is no warranty on any Sample Sale Items as stated in the item descriptions.

8. Sustainability Commitment
Makaop donates 1% of its revenue to coral gardening projects in the Mentawai Islands to support marine conservation efforts. We are committed to ethical and sustainable practices.

9. Intellectual Property
All images are the property of Makaop. Unauthorized use or reproduction is strictly prohibited.

10. Liability and Disclaimers
We are not liable for wear and tear damage if the jewelry is not treated properly according to our Jewelry Care Guide.

11. Changes to Terms
Makaop reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website, and continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
